The Working Session of National Climate Commission Convened in CMA

The Working Session of National Climate Commission was held on 28 March 2006 in CMA. Nearly 50 participants attended the meeting, including delegates from National Development and Reform Commission, MOST, NSFC, MOE, CMA, CAS, MWR, MOA, NOA, NFA, MLR and SEPA, as well as directors of four sub-commissions of NCC and director-generals from CMA headquarter.
Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Deputy Administrator of CMA, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of National Climate Commission, chaired the meeting. Dr. Qin Dahe, Administrator of CMA, Director and Secretary-General of National Climate Commission made the summary speech. Dr. Qin indicated that, the NCC should meet the national interest, strengthen the cooperation between institutions, accomplish information sharing and avoid duplicate construction on demand of the nation.
The Office of National Climate Commission firstly reported the recent working progress, including: 1) completing the compilation of four sub-plans and experts argumentation; 2) starting publication of Advances of Climate Change Research; 3) starting the TV program of Public Education on Climate Change; 4) reporting the preparation of the ESSP Conference to be held from 9 to 12 November 2006 in Beijing.
The directors of the four sub-commissions introduced their thoughts and major contents fo the four plans on climate data and monitoring, climate research, climate impact assessment and response countermeasure, climate application and services respectively. The members carefully listened to and reviewed the plans, and made constructive comments. They also listened to the reports on the actualities and future development of climate observation system in China, the actualities and future development of climate operation in China, IPCC Fourth Assessment Report.
