There has been very little rainfall continuously in Yangtze River since this summer. Especially in August, the regional mean of total rainfall over Yangtze River is only 89.6mm, which is the lowest record during the same period since 1951. At the same time, the temperature over this area is higher than normal obviously. The regional mean temperature in summer over the Yangtze River is the highest record during the same period since 1951. Over the Yangtze River, especially in Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei, the most severe drought occurred because of prolonged rainfall shortage and high temperature.
