Sub regional workshop on the evaluation of social and economic benefits of meteorological and related services to society for Eastern Africa held successfully in Nairobi (Kenyan capital)
Sub regional workshop on the evaluation of social and economic benefits of meteorological and related services to society for Eastern Africa, sponsored by World Meteorological Organization, Kenya Meteorological Administration and East African Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Prediction and Application Research Center (ICPAC)held successfully in Kenyan capital Nairobi on August 28-30, 2006. Officials and experts from WMO and relevant government of 10 East African countries, especially experts from BCC (CMA) attended the meeting.
The meeting summarized the weather and climate impacts on grain and coffee production, water resource, environment and biodiversity, wildlife, air, food, health and public safety, fishery, energy, sports, tourism, media and other aspects.
After the meeting, on behalf of Dr. Dong Wenjie (Director-General of BCC), Dr. Yan Yuping and Prof. Ogallo (Director-General of ICPAC) friendly exchanged the opinions of the two sides to strengthen the bilateral cooperation.
