BCC scientists attended the 18^th Climate Outlook Forum for the Greater Horn of Africa (GHACOF18)

The 18^th Climate Outlook Forum for the Greater Horn of Africa (GHACOF18), held in Nairobi (capital of Kenya) on August 31-September 1, 2006. R.Kumar Kolli (Chief of WCP/CLIPS) and experts from IRI, government departments of East African countries, including transportation and water conservancy as well as the end-users of climate information attended the meeting. Dr. Yan Yuping, Dr. Zhangqiang and Dr. Liu Yanxiang from BCC were invited to attend the meeting. Dr. Yan Yuping was invited to present “Coping with meteorological disasters-experiences from Beijing Climate Center” in the forum. The presentation is about BCC's research and operation work, the global and China Drought Monitoring System of BCC, applications and services of climate products. The presentation and Drought Watch (a Journal issued by BCC) has aroused great interest in participating experts. Many of them wanted BCC to help African countries to build dynamical climate prediction models and disseminate offer the model prediction and drought monitoring products.
