The national annual workshop of climate prediction for 2006-2007 was held in Beijing on October 30, 2006. After two days abundant discussion, the participated experts have analyzed the climate prediction of this winter, next spring and summer on the following aspects: 1) the temperature prediction (focus on the warm winter, cold spring, the unusual high temperature in summer and the possibility of low temperature and disasters that appeared in northeast China, 2) the precipitation prediction (focus on the spring drought in north area and the distribution characteristic of national drought in summer, 3) the characteristic of the major effected factors.

Dr. Li Weijing, Deputy Director-General of BCC presided the opening ceremony. Dr, Yu Rucong, Deputy Administrator of CMA made a speech in the opening ceremony. Dr. Yu pointed out that the development of social economy, made a higher request of the meteorological service, especially the construction of new socialism countryside. The construction of harmonious society also needs our climate prediction products urgently. He hoped that the experts would analyze and discuss earnestly, and formed the trend prediction result of the annual climate of China for 2006-2007, to provide better service for the construction of new socialism countryside.
