Debut of CWERA in GWREF2006 Attracted Domestic and Foreign Participants

The Great Wall World Renewable Energy Forum and Exhibition (GWREF2006) was held in the Beijing International Convention Center on October 24, 2006. The Wind Energy Resources Survey and Assessment/Wind Situation Characteristic Analysis Workshop was held as a part of GWREF on Oct. 23 and 25, 2006 in the Beijing International Convention Center and hosted by Wind/Solar Energy Resource Assessment Center/CMA. Government officials, national meteorological experts, responsible experts of 10 wind farms, wind farm investor, developer, and scientific research institutes attended the workshop and discussed the development of China’s wind energy resource, communicated on wind energy resource assessment technologies together to accelerate the capacity building of renewable energy commercialization in China. More than 70 experts from 24 provincial (municipal and autonomous regional) Climate Center/Meteorological Administration, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Atmospheric Observation Technology Center/CMA, Beijing Climate Centre and other departments attended the conference.

In addition, as a government agency of China, Wind/Solar Energy Resource Assessment Center/CMA attended the exhibition and displayed their research results since its established, domestic and foreign experts and investors have paid attention to the results. Prof. Erik Lundtang Petersen (Director-General of Wind Energy Resource Department of Denmark Risoe National Laboratory) and relevant experts attended the exhibition and discussed the future cooperation on project application, research development and so on. Many experts were very interested in the 5X5 km distribution map of wind energy resources in China, which was simulated by the mesoscale WEST model, and they asked relevant technical issues. Domestic and foreign developers and investors consulted the access of relevant data on wind energy resources assessment. They hoped that Wind/Solar Energy Resource Assessment Center/CMA could become the authoritative agency of China, and would work well as the technical guidance and standardized management of wind energy resources assessment in China.
