Northern Hemisphere: During October, sea ice was generally less than normal. Sea ice concentrations were 20-60% below normal in regions from the Laptev Sea to the Beaufort Sea, and 20%-40% above normal Greenland Sea

Southern Hemisphere:

During October, sea ice was generally more than normal. Sea ice Concentrations were 20-60% above normal along 60°S in the western South Atlantic Ocean, the western South Indian Ocean and the central South Pacific, but 20~60% anomalies were in the Bellingshausen Sea
