On January 10, CMA held a news conference, Dr. Sun Jian (Director-General of Office of General Affairs/CMA) presided the meeting, and BCC relevent experts attended the meeting. Dr. Dong Wenjie (Director-General of BCC) introduced China climate situation in 2006 and the main contents of new version of 2006 "China Climate Communique". After the conference, Dr. Dong Wenjie interviewed by Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, and China News Agency.
Dr. Dong Wenjie introduced the climate system monitoring and climate impacts to the journalists. He said 2006 was the warmest year since 1951; meteorological disasters and extreme climate events were frequently happened. Meteorological disasters are variety, wide, and serious. Compared with previous years, the air self-cleaning ability of west areas in northwest China, northern China and northeast of Inner Mongolia, central and east of Qinghai, most areas of Tibet were poor or worse; South of the Yangtze River, most of Jianghuai areas, most areas of southern China, central and east of southwest China were good; most of the rest areas were close to former years. The adverse impacts of climate conditions on the traffic facilities belonged to light years. The national average comfortable days were more than annual accounts. The climate conditions for human health were good.
