Co-sponsored by CMA and WMO, jointly organized by MOST, SAFEA and CAS, hosted by BCC, the Third Session of the Forum on Regional Climate Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction for Asia (FOCRAII) was opened in
Over 100 delegates from 24 countries and territories attended the meeting, including Mr. Rupa Kolli from WMO, Dr. Song Yang from CPC/NOAA, Dr. Liqiang Sun from IRI, Dr. Chris Gordon and Dr. Alberto Herranz from Hadley Center, Dr. Manuel Nunez from Australia, Dr. Ogallo Laban from ICPAC of Kenya, Dr. Patricio López Carmona from CIIFEN of Ecuador, and experts from Bangladesh, Chinese Hong Kong, Chinese Macao, DPRK, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, as well as the domestic participants from BCC, NMC, NSMC, CAMS , CAS and MWR.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Chen Deliang, Science Director of BCC. Dr. Yu Rucong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, welcomed the participants and made an address. Dr. Rupa Kumar Kolli, Chief of World Climate Applications & CLIPS Division of WMO, and Dr. Li Weijing, Deputy Director-General of BCC, also made addresses respectively. On behalf of the Secretary-General of WMO, Mr. Michel Jarraud, Mr. Kolli expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of China for hosting this important forum for the third successive year. he extended compliments to the China Meteorological Administration, under the dynamic leadership of Dr Qin Dahe, for initiating and sustaining the regional climate outlook process in
