Ⅰ. Climate Summary
1. Precipitation
Monthly mean precipitation of China was about 31.5 millimeter which was more than the normal with 28.2 millimeter in March 2007. Furthermore, the mean monthly precipitation was biggest of 8 provinces including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Shandong since 1951.
2. Temperature
The monthly mean temperature of China as a whole was 4.5℃ which was 1.3℃ higher than the normal.
Ⅱ. Major climate events
1. Snow storm
Snow storm took place in north china which caused 8.7 million people affected, 22 people dead, 7 people lost and the direct economic losses is 14130 million RMB.
2. Drought
In March, the precipitation was 30~80% less than normal in Chongqin, most part of Sichuan and central-western Guizhou. Droughty condition developed or continued in most of these regions.
3. Dust Weather
Five dust weathers occurred in March. in north China which was one more than the average from 2000 to 2006.
4. Frost
Frost attacked parts of Anhui and Jiangsu at the beginning of March which caused economic losses.
5. Strong wind and hailstorm
Strong wind and hailstorm attacked part of Guizhou, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces.
6. Heavy Fog
Heavy fog occurred in eastern part of China, there were 3-7 days with fog in some regions of Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujiang. Dense fog made the traffic condition difficult, especially in Jiangsu, Hubei and Anhui provinces.
7. Heavy Rain
Heavy Rain occurred in Hubei, Anhui and Guangxi provinces, causing great losses.
