April 23, the Asian regional press conference for the Fourth Assessment Report of IPCC Working Group 2 hold by CMA in Beijing. Prof. Luo Yong and Liu Hongbin attended the meeting. On the meeting, they interviewed by CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, Jiefang Daily, and etc. on their concerns, such as possible extremely climate events and specific measures of meteorological departments, as well as sea level rise, the climate trend of China's flood season this year, and the contents of the Fourth Assessment Report of IPCC Working Group 1&2. Prof. Luo Yong said that from precipitation, climate experts predicted there might be two main rainy belts, one in the middle reaches of Yangtze River, another in Yellow River Loop area; from temperature, the large part of China might be high. In response to sea level rise impacts on coast, we should strengthen coastal protection dam design, improving the design standards, and also increase investment on coastal engineering maintenance costs.
