May 24, the Seminar of Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Project for the Yangtze River hold in BCC. More than 20 experts from BCC/CMA, Environment and Sustainable Development Institute/China Academy of Agricultural, the Institute of Animal Husbandry, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Institute/CAS, Institute of cold and drought areas, Geography Science and Resources Institute, the Ministry of Water Resource, Chinese Academy of Forestry, and Canada Environment Department attended the session. Dr. Li Lifeng (Director-General of WWF China's Freshwater Project and Climate Change Project) presided the meeting.
Climate change impacts and adaptation project for the Yangtze River was jointly lunched by the freshwater projects and climate change projects of China Branch of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), it aims to make assessment of climate change impacts on the Yangtze River wetland ecosystem and the local population (mainly herdsmen), promote relevant managements of grassland, wetland and water resources, protect the existing species and unique culture, strengthen the Yangtze River adaptation capacity to climate change. Since the project started in 2005, it has been supported by BCC/CMA, the State Forestry Administration, CAS, the Science and Technology Department of Qinghai Province, and Qinghai Provincial Meteorological Bureau, etc.
