The Spring Festival of this year, which had coincidentally met with the solar term 'Severe cold', is one of the most frigid holidays in recent years with the continuous impact of the strong cold air. Therefore, people in most regions of our country spent their holidays in the cold wave. Couples of days just before the festival, most regions in middle and east part of China were affected by the two cold air processes, which brought about strong wind and temperature dropping to North China, Northeast China, Huanghuai and Jianghuai, as well as continuous temperature falling in South of the Yangtze River and South China. On January 21, the day before the Spring Festival, the lowest temperature dropped to minus 12.9°C in Beijing. On January 22, the first day of the year of monkey, it was freezing in north of Guangdong province and frosty in the middle of the province. The temperature in Guangzhou dropped to 2.9°C. Likewise, the record in Shanghai was also renewed on January 25, while the temperature fell to minus 4.6°C.
