The summarization and commendation meeting of the project, "Three Gorges Local Climate Monitoring Sub-system", was held on 16-17 December 2003 at the Yichang City Meteorological Bureau. The meeting was held by DFSDM/CMA and chaired by Mr. Liu Yang, deputy director-general of DFSDM. Totally 20 delegates from NCC, Hubei PMB, Chongqing MMB attended the meeting.
The project is subordinate to the program of the Three Gorges Office of the State Council, "Zoology and Environment Monitoring System for the Three Gorges Engineering", as one of the 19 key monitoring stations. The project is presided by NCC and managed by DFSDM.
The meeting mainly focused on 1) exchanging and summarizing the fruits on monitoring and research; 2) commending advanced departments and excellent persons; 3) deploying the works of the next phase. In the meeting, 4 departments were commended including Fuling City Meteorological Bureau and Wuhan Meteorological Office; 10 advanced persons were awarded; 14 papers were reported. In July 2003, NCC was awarded as advanced collectivity by the Three Gorges Engineering Construction Committee of the State Council.
After the meeting, the monitoring data will be pigeonholed and analyzed, and the annual scientific report will be written.
