The Fourth Session of the Forum on Regional Climate Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction for Asia was opened in Beijing, April 9, 2008.

Dr. Xu Xiaofeng, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Dr. Leslie Malone, Scientific Officer of Climate and Water Department, WMO and Dr. Xiao Ziniu, Executive Director-General of Beijing Climate Centre (BCC/CMA), addressed respectively in the opening ceremony.

This forum is sponsored by CMA and WMO and co-sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Chinese Academy of Sciences. The representatives are from WMO, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Burundi, Cambodia, Chinese Macao, Chinese Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, United Kingdom and United States.

The fourth session of forum is similar to the previous three sessions in way of exchange among various countries/regions. The delegates will introduce their work on climate monitoring, prediction, impact assessment of their NMHSs, and made consultation and climate prediction on summer 2008 for Asia region.

The meeting will be closed on 11 April 2008.
