At the invitation of Dr Qin Dahe, Administrator of the CMA, the delegation from the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) of Germany, headed by Dr. Guy Brasseur, Director of MPI-M, visited CMA from 15 to 19 December 2003.
The Common Workshop towards fully coupled Earth System Model and Global Change was held jointly by CMA and MPI-M in Beijing from 15 to 16 December 2003. Dr. Qin Dahe made a presentation on the overview of the CMA and Dr. Guy Brasseur presented an overview of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. Mr. Zhang Guocai and Dr. Dong Wenjie attended the workshop. Totally 19 experts from both CMA and MPI-M delivered 20 presentations focusing on fully coupled earth system model and global change. By the common efforts from both sides the Common Workshop towards fully coupled Earth System Model and Global Change achieved a success.
The both sides discussed the further bilateral cooperation and signed the minutes of the workshop, which fixed the preferential cooperative fields and detailed cooperation methods on modeling application and development.
The delegation visited the National Meteorological Centre, the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences and the National Satellite Meteorological Centre during their stay in Beijing. The delegats express sincere thanks for the hospitality accorded to them by CMA during their visit in China.
