In the morning of August 9, Member of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Niu Youcheng conveyed Secretary Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee Mr. Liu Qi and Mayor of Beijing Mr. Guo Jinlong’s affirmation of the meteorological service for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games to Xie Pu, Director and Wang Jianjie, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Meteorological Bureau in the Government of Beijing. He also conveyed the leaders’ greetings to the meteorological personnel.
Niu Youcheng said that the meteorological department had provided accurate and timely forecast for the opening ceremony and had undertaken a successful rain suppression which ensured the opening ceremony to be not interrupted by rainfall. Liu Qi and Guo Jinlong highly affirmed the work and also encouraged the meteorological personnel to continue to work hard and provide high-quality service for all the Olympic competitions on the basis of concluding the successful experiences and applying advanced measures.
