The fifth session of forum is similar to the previous four sessions in way of exchange among various countries/regions. The forum will focus on seasonal and inter-annual climate prediction, the East Asian monsoon research, climate monitoring and impact assessment, and the simulation of climate system.
Dr. Zheng Guoguang said Asia is often suffered extreme climate events, FOCRAII is to provide high-quality climate applications and services for WMO members, especially the RA II(Asia), and also to provide a platform for academic exchange, professional training and sharing climate services resource. At present, in many Asian countries, their meteorological and hydrological services are lack of sufficient capacity to provide climate services for its government and public. So FOCRAII and trial operation of the RA II RCC network showed a significant benefit to the people and the countries.
This forum is sponsored by BCC/CMA and WMO and co-sponsored by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and East Asian Monsoon Activity Center. The representatives are from WMO RA II countries, the Regional Meteorological Center of CMA, Provincial (Autonomous Regions and Municipal) Meteorology Bureau, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences and related Colleges and Universities.
