Accompanied by Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of CMA, and Mr. Shen Xiaonong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, the 5-person Canadian Delegation led by Mr. David Grimes, President of WMO, Head of Environment Canada's Meteorological Service, visited Beijing Climate Centre on 10 September 2012. Dr. Song Lianchun, Director-General of BCC, Ms. Chao Qingchen, Deputy Director-General of BCC, and Dr. Zhang Peiqun, Deputy Chief Engineer of BCC, warmly received the Canadian guests. Dr. Song comprehensively introduced the history of BCC and its operation on climate monitoring, prediction, impact assessment and services, and specially emphasized the hot issues undertaken by BCC recently, and briefed BCC’s development of climate system modeling, international cooperation and research on climate change adaptation. Mr. David Grimes indicated his interest in BCC’s climate services on agriculture, energy and the Three Gorges, and highly appraised BCC’s excellent work in RAII as one of RCCs of WMO. The Canadian Delegation then visited the operational plat form of BCC. BCC will join the bilateral working group meeting between CMA-EC and special discussion on GFCS with the Canadian Delegation in the coming two days.
